The lost water structure of Nanjing
Due to the vast urbanization of Nanjing in the last decades, around 20 river branches and channels with a total length of 15 kilometres as well as numerous water ponds have disappeared. Mostly they have been filled up and are not recognizable anymore in the urban fabric. The workshop ‘the lost water structure of Nanjing' will be a quest for creative designs or reinterpretations of Nanjing’s lost water structures; focussing on the benefits of water in public space and the awareness and importance of water in the city.
