Exposition ‘ANCHORS FOR THE LOST DRECHT’
The jury of the competition 'Icoon Oostelijke Vechtplassen' has selected 'ANCHORS FOR THE LOST DRECHT' from SMARTLAND Landscape Architects for the exhibition 'HET ICOON'. All selected ideas are shown in detail in the temporary pavilion at the Porseleinhaven in Oud-Loosdrecht. Jan-Jaap de Kloet, alderman of Gemeente Wijdemeren opens Het ICOON on Wednesday 16 May at 4 pm. THE ICON can be visited from Thursday 17 till Sunday 27 May 2018. The public can vote for the favorite idea. The votes will be counted on Sunday afternoon, May 27, 2018 and the board will announce the audience winner. On 29 June 2018 the prize winners will be announced according to the professional jury.
Our icon focuses on the River Drecht, landscape base for LoosDrecht and its lakes. This peat river has largely disappeared. Through peat extraction and wave action, the whole middle part has been washed away in the big lake. This makes this landscape difficult to understand and therefore also more difficult to appreciate. With our icon we make the river visible again.
